Blue and silver dominate this forward-looking venue

Illustrated with children's drawings, the façade catches the eye. At the entrance, a bilingual mural recalls the historic bond between the Portuguese and British. But inside, more important than the past is the future.

One of the main attractions is a huge conveyor belt, which takes visitors on an adventure full of energy and colour. The journey begins with a humorous presentation of a country known for its frequent showers: a map of the United Kingdom made of umbrellas.

The highlight comes when the audience, after going through a tunnel where a refreshing breeze flows, simulates a dive in the depths of the ocean to discover six stories of marine innovations.

In an alternative look at the oceans, works in jewellery, fashion or design signed by students from the Royal College of Art - all inspired by the sea - can be appreciated. On the way out, there is information about the country, including its maritime history. And an image of the Millenmum Dome - a giant dome being built for the arrival of the year 2000 - invites the public to London.

Several ships from the British Royal Navy will be at the Boat Show during June. On National Day, they receive a visit from Prince Charles.
