The Adriatic Sea in Lisbon
For its first participation in a World Exhibition, Croatia brought a pavilion in shades of blue, in a tribute to the Adriatic. Upon entering, the visitor is surrounded by a maritime universe and surprised by the illusion of walking on water. The simulation is achieved through a glass floor based on a kind of swimming pool, whose bluish water is in constant movement. The appeal to the senses is completed with the sounds of seagulls, music and the scents of lavender and pine trees.
In the first module are archaeological artefacts recovered from the bottom of the Adriatic Sea. The second room, a large circular enclosure dotted with benches, is lined by a screen with films about Croatia's nature.
